Working Group I

The Group recognized that employer paid-guaranteed benefits are critical to the retirement security of low and moderate wage-earners. To increase coverage among the intended population, the Group developed new forms of defined benefit plans (or plans that have some of these features) that could be attractive to small- and medium-sized businesses who would offer them to their employees. The Group also agreed to expand its mission to stop the further erosion of defined benefit plans by developing a public education campaign on the issue.
